THE UNIQUE LEARNING CENTER STAFF

Director
– Sherry Woods
Sherry is a native of Minnesota who moved to
Washington, DC in 1982 upon the completion of her
undergraduate studies. She acquired a degree in Elementary Education with a
minor in Theology from the College
of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN.
In 1993 she completed her graduate studies at George Washington
University with a
Masters Degree in Supervision and Evaluation of Education.
Upon arriving in Washington, she joined
the staff of ONE Ministries and turned a small effort with about 8 children
into a daily after-school program. Her commitment to the children in the community
is unwavering and remains true to the calling that she believes God has
placed on her life.
Sherry is married with
three children and she resides in Washington,
DC.
Assistant Program Director -
Jennifer Hines
Jennifer hails from Milwaukee,
Wisconsin and is working toward
her degree in Elementary Education. She has proven to be invaluable and has
played a key role with ULC for fifteen years. She brings a number of gifts to
the program including organizational skills, drama, and teaching. Jennifer plans
and implements the curriculum for cooking and drama classes, and manages
several other aspects of the program.
Jennifer is married and
resides in Oxen Hill, MD.
Welcome to ULC’s Newest Staff Member –
Coordinator for Youth Programs – Markel Brewster
Markel is a DCPS graduate from Wilson
High School, and will complete his
Bachelors degree in Mathematics in December 2008 from Morgan State
University. Markel has been a part of the ULC’s summer staff for three years, and we are
thrilled that he has joined our staff full time. His area of focus will be teens and
programming for our boys.
Markel resides in
Washington, DC.
Administrator/Development –
Carol Chin
Carol comes to us from, most recently, Los
Angeles, California,
and has a background in international relief and development work. She is
responsible for grant writing and managing ULC’s
finances. Her commitment to excellence in management has proven to be an
organizational strength.
Carol resides in Centreville, VA
with her husband and two children.
